LOVE

Today marks the 4th week of Advent. We light the last purple candle that symbolizes LOVE. In this Fourth Week of Advent, our final days of preparation before Christmas, we ask Christ to forgive us for our sins and, through His grace, to create us anew when He comes. This week is also a time to recollect, to reflect on our Advent journey. If we have let the hustle and bustle of the season get in the way of our spiritual preparations for Christmas, we have one last chance to refocus—and the light of the candles on the Advent wreath can be a symbol of our focus, as well as a symbol of the light of Christ.

A prayer for the 4th week of advent:

Lord, hurry and come to us. May your light shine in our lives, so that we may be freed from sin. Protect us from all anxiety as we wait in joyful hope for your coming as our savior: For the kingdom, the power and glory are yours now and forever. Amen.

The 3rd Week of Advent

Today marks the 3rd week of Advent. Today Jesus talks about John the Baptist. He told about the coming of Jesus. We also know from the scripture that John was the son of Mary’s cousin Elizabeth. John told the people to prepare the way for the coming of God. This week we light the third candle. This candle is pink.  It symbolizes joy. Think about the joy that comes from the love of Jesus.  May we spread the joy of Jesus’ love with everyone we meet.

In this Advent season, we can plan weekly actions that help us to prepare for the coming of Jesus. How can you open your heart to get ready for Jesus?

God our Father, help us to continue to keep peace in our hearts as we come closer to Christmas. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen

PEACE

Sorry for the late post this week. I am happy to say I am beginning to feel better!

This past Sunday marked the lighting of the 2nd purple advent candle. We patiently await the coming of baby Jesus. Again, they symbolize our longing, our desire, and our hope. Remember the three "advents" or "comings"? We want to recall that Jesus came in the past to save us from our sin and death. We want to experience his coming to us now, in our everyday lives. When we woke up, each day this past week, we lit that candle in our hearts taking a few moments to focus on God, thanking him for today and for sending his Son.

Prayer for the second week of advent

Father in heaven,
the day draws near when the glory of your Son
will make radiant the night of the waiting world.
May the lure of greed not impede us from the joy
which moves the hearts of those who seek him.
May the darkness not blind us
to the vision of wisdom
which fills the minds of those who find him.
We ask this in the name of Jesus the Lord.
